Would you like to know how to be saved? Keep reading… 🙂

What does it mean to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

Have you ever wondered… How to be saved? What will happen when I die? And will I go to heaven?

If you would like to know the peace that only Jesus provides, here’s an easy-to-follow guide. In it, you’ll find the answer to these questions and the simple steps to salvation or as we Christians say being ¨saved¨.

The Roman Road to Salvation

The following Bible verses will lead you through the process of accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior and help you to understand exactly what that means.

Jesus said to him, ¨I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14: 6
If we are to experience eternal life in heaven, we must first understand that Jesus is the only way to heaven. In this world, people say that they will go to heaven if they are good and they ask questions like “why is Jesus the only way” or claim that there should be more than one way. Instead of saying these things we should be glad that there is A way. Jesus is very clear that He is THE way.

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:20-21

We must understand that God the Father is the Creator of all things including us.

“For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
We must realize that we are all sinners and need forgiveness.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Because of God’s great love for us, He sent His only son, Jesus, to die a sinner’s death on the cross in our place. Jesus did this willingly because He also loves us. He has made a way for us to spend eternity in heaven with Him!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
We will all die, but we have a choice of where we will go when we die. If will choose not to accept Jesus as our Savior then we will experience a spiritual death and we won’t receive the gift of God to eternal life in heaven.

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. Romans 10:9-11
“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
If you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and confess with your mouth, then you will be saved!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20

Is Jesus knocking on the door to your heart? If so, all you have to do is let Him in. He will do the rest. Accepting Jesus as your Savior isn’t about what other people say about you or being in a church building. It’s a one on one relationship with a loving and forgiving Savior. All you need to do is say a prayer and ask Jesus into your heart. Ask Him to forgive your sins and it will be done. The words are not important. It’s the meaning of the words. Share your heart with God. He will listen. Please don’t wait. The time is now.

What do you say to accept Jesus as your Savior?

Here’s a sample prayer to get you started.

Lord Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me of my sin and make me whole again. I believe You died for my sins and were resurrected from the dead. I know you are in heaven now hearing my prayer. Please send Your Holy Spirit to me now to guide me. In  Jesus name, Amen.

If you decided to say this prayer and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior today, welcome to the family of God. The angels are throwing a party in your honor! (Luke 15:10)

But it doesn’t end there. Now that you have learned all about Accepting Jesus as your Savior and have decided to follow Him, the next step is to grow your relationship with God. The Bible gives instructions on how to follow up your new commitment to follow Jesus and become closer to God. Don’t worry it’s not as hard as you think.

1. Tell someone about your decision to follow Jesus.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light, who once were not a people, but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10

2. Get baptized as commanded by Jesus.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

3. Find a local Bible-teaching church to join.

It’s important to be around other believers for encouragement and to learn about the Bible.

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

4. Spend time each day with God.

It doesn’t need to be a long time. Just set aside a few minutes to read your Bible to learn more about your new faith in Jesus and pray for God’s direction and guidance for your life.

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

I truly hope that this has answered your questions about how to be saved and about accepting Jesus as your Savior. And I pray that you have taken action by asking Jesus to come into your heart and save you from your sins.
